[Limelight] AU Ivan Reference + Plotting

liveindarknessOK so like what's the deal with Aphelion?
I'm playing Ivan with the full amnesia, but there is an AU Ivan who lived a happy full life pre-amnesia. AU Ivan went by the nom de plume of Aphelion, so that nom de plume sometimes pops up in threads discussing his pre-amnesia self. As an amnesiac with the Siren's Melodies, he goes by Moray.
I'm interested in AU CR. Tell me about Aphelion.
- orphan who was adopted by a wealthy family that put a lot of pressure on him to succeed
- at the time the game starts, he was 22, a first year law student, probably on track to eventually join the Holy Order before being amnesia'd and scooped up by the Siren's Melodies
- he was friendly, reliable, charming, very popular, and the object of quite a few crushes. The kind of person with a lot of friends/connections but who doesn't seem super close to anyone
- outside of playing the role of Good Son for his family, his main hobby was music in general and specifically anonymously uploading covers to YouT*be (piano+vocals)
Overall, and I cannot stress this enough, Aphelion was a very normal guy with normal guy problems. His wealthy industrialist family were (allegedly) mixed up in shady business, but Aphelion himself was clean as a whistle. The closest thing there is to dirt on him is the anonymous YouT*be.
I want AU CR but my character will probably take the amnesia poorly.
That's totally fine! Accept it, deny it, don't care at all: all IC reactions are good as long as it's fun for you to play and leads to some interesting CR.
What are some AU CR hooks with Aphelion?
- classmates
- teachers/mentors
- neighbors
- other scions of the decadent wealthy class, who may have been encountered at decadent wealthy social events
- recognizing his voice from the anonymous YouT*be account
- other regular encounters: saw him at the cat cafe, took the same bus to school every morning, etc.
If you have any other ideas, I'm open to suggestions. However, I want to focus on the Amnesia Ivan's development, so I'd like to keep AU CR on the level of "friendly acquaintances." Enough of a relationship to give your character a hook or reason for interacting with Amnesia Ivan, but not so close that I have to invest a lot of energy in thinking up details and relationships in his AU self's life.
What's the timeline on all these memory shenanigans?
Aphelion lost his memories about 2-3 weeks before game start, so he started the game as a fresh baby-faced amnesiac. From the perspective of people he knew as Aphelion, he's apparently disappeared from his usual haunts over the couple weeks prior to game start. He's not responding to texts/emails/DMs/whatever. Assuming you even had his contact info in the first place, which is unlikely.
I have AU CR. Yay! What are some differences between Aphelion and Moray?
Aphelion: Pleasant, friendly, charming, considerate; a genuinely nice guy. Very private and didn't share a lot of personal details, preferring to keep a smile up when things were down. His clothing style was stylish but not particularly ostentatious and he would change it up depending on the environment. About what you would expect for a 22-year-old with a healthy social life while attending Ivy League-equivalent law school. He was not a particularly touchy person but also not averse to casual physical contact.
Family affiliation: None
Regular coffee order: iced Americano, black
Moray: His outer persona is similar to Aphelion; pleasant, friendly, considerate. For now, a very perceptive person might be able to pick up on it feeling a touch off or fake rather than genuine. His inner self is much less emotive and tends to be blunt and gloomy. He tends to swap between them two personae a lot depending on who he's talking to as he hasn't quite figured out the best strategy for controlling how he presents himself. Body language tends to be closed off. He mostly wears black/gray + neutrals, overall a more mature style than Aphelion.
Family affiliation: Arias/Siren's Melodies
Regular coffee order: mocha with whipped cream
